SOYGOM - Syriac Orthodox Youth Group of Melbourne

 

              

Meeting Review

On Tuesday 7th January 2003 all members of SOYGOM were invited to a meeting held at St. Aphrem Church to discuss the future of the group.
Below is a summary of the meeting.

Members in attendance : 13

1) Fr Iskander blessed the meeting and the group.  He expressed his hope for a prosperous future in which the youth and the church could work together to strengthen one another. He said that the church and he would try there best to support the group through conducting regular seminars and English masses for the youth of the church.

2) As this was the first meeting with the new committee members for 2003, the committee structure of having a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary plus coordinators for various subcommittees was approved. 

3)  Committee positions for 2003 were decided as follows:

4) The President and Secretary are to prepare a draft constitution, detailing the roles and responsibilities of the committee, to be emailed to all committee members before the next meeting.

5)  Maiada and George are to look into opening a bank account for SOYGOM.

6) While it had been previously decided that SOYGOM should register as a group, after gathering some information, it was decided that a deeper analysis is needed before this decision can be made.  The information is to be forwarded to all committee members so that a decision can be made at the next meeting.

7) In regards to paying to remove the pop-up ads from our website, an agreement was made to keep it as it is for now.

8) Regular meetings will be held monthly on the first Tuesday of every month at St. Aphrem’s Church starting at 7.00pm, unless otherwise negotiated beforehand.

9) Each subcommittee is to organise at least one event during this summer.
