| Ensuring that the group remains focused on both its short and long term goals. | |
| Scheduling regular group meetings to discuss the progress and development of the group. | |
| Reporting to and seeking the approval of spiritual leaders and the local parishes of any progress, developments or decisions made by the group. | |
| Keeping balance of and maintaining the group’s operating costs and finances. | |
| Keeping members informed of any decisions and progress made by the group. | |
| Forming and overseeing subcommittees to plan and run events and activities for members of the group; ensuring that these are accomplished successfully, on time and on budget. |
The committee consists of at least 4 Syriac Orthodox members aged between 17 and 26 years at the time of their election. Ideally, there should be an equal representation of male and female members and of each Syriac Orthodox parishes in Melbourne. The members of the committee nominated to represent the group, will elect from among themselves a president, a secretary and a treasurer, in addition to any other suitable positions, operating under the spiritual leadership of the His Holiness Patriarch of the Syrian Orthodox Church or his appointed representative.
All members of the committee have equal rights and control of the group, members of SOYGOM may not take any action on behalf of the group without the approval of the majority of the committee members.
Elections are to be held every 24 months, in which all SOYGOM members are encouraged to nominate for fellow members to fill the positions of the committee.
